Loaded Smashed Potatoes

Most of us do mashed potatoes for Christmas, why not give these a try instead? This recipe will serve 4. Ingredients: 1lb baby potatoes kosher salt 1/4c melted butter 3 minced cloves garlic black pepper 2c shredded cheddar 10 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled sour cream, if desired for serving Create: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with water, season with salt. Bring to a boil and boil until tender, drain and are cool enough to handle. Transfer potatoes to a baking sheet. Pour over melted butter, garlic and season with salt and pepper. Toss until totally combined. Using the bottom of a small glass or jar, mashed potatoes into flat patties. Bake until crispy, 20-25 minutes more. Top with cheddar and bake until melted. Top with cooked bacon, sour cream if you choose to and you can even use chopped green onions.  

DIY Vanilla and Coffee Body Scrub

Vanilla and coffee are a great scent together, make sure you make this one for the coffee lovers in your life. The recipe below will fill 3 (4oz mason jars) You will need: 1 1/2c sugar 1/2c coconut oil 20 drops vanilla extract 1T coffee grounds Make it: Add sugar, coconut oil and extract to a bowl and stir well. Add the coffee grounds. Stir well to combine. Using a canning funnel (or a small spoon) pour into your mason jars.  

Baileys Tiramisu Cocktail

I love Baileys! I love Tiramisu! I think I will love this recipe, how about you? This recipe will make 2 cocktails. What you'll need: 3oz baileys orig. irish cream 3oz strong hot coffee 1oz chopped chocolate 2T soft brown sugar 2oz lady finger biscuits 4oz mascarpone cocoa powder, chocolate coffee beans and chocolate flakes to garnish. Directions: Mix the hot coffee with the sugar and chocolate until smooth, then leave aside to cool. Blend the baileys and biscuit crumbs with four ice cubes in a blender or smoothie maker until smooth. Put the mascarpone in a bowl, add about a third of the baileys mixture and mix together with a little balloon whisk until smooth. Fold in the rest with a spoon. Pour the coffee mixture into two martini cocktail glasses, then spoon over the baileys mascarpone mix. Dust the cocoa powder then sprinkle over coffee beans, chocolate flakes and curls.  

Cheesy Bacon Asparagus Casserole

Just like I did with Thanksgiving I am bringing you non traditional sides for Christmas; think you'll give any of them a try? I believe I am going to make this one! This recipe serves 6. What you'll need: 6 strips of bacon cut into 1' pieces 2 minced garlic cloves 1/4c flour 1 1/2c milk 1/2c heavy cream 1c shredded white cheddar, divided 1c shredded gruyere, divided kosher salt black pepper crushed red pepper flakes 1 bunch asparagus, ends trimmed 1c crushed ritz crackers. Create: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy for about 10 minutes. Remove from the pan with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel lined plate. Drain all but a 1/4c of grease from the pan. To the same skillet, add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add flour and stir until golden, about 2 minutes. Slowly pour in milk and cream, whisking until smooth. Let simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes. Add 1/2c of each cheese and stir until...

DIY Christmas Body Butter

  Tis' the season to give, this week is all going to be body care items you can give as gifts. What you'll need: cute tins or jars 1/2c beeswax 1c coconut oil 1 1/2c shea butter 1/2c vitamin e oil 10 drops peppermint essential oil Create: Melt all ingredients, except vitamin e oil and essential oil in a double boiler. Remove from heat, add vitamin e oil and essential oil and stir. Let cool for 15 minutes. Use a hand mixer to mix the lotion on a low speed. Pour into your container and let them sit overnight.

The Grinch Christmas Ornament

  This is a great craft for kids to give out as presents this year. Something simple that kids can do and the receiving end of the gift will enjoy it because it is a homemade gift. Here is what you'll need: Clear plastic bulb ornaments Pom poms in a variety of green shades, sizes and textures Red oil based marker How to create: Take off the top of the bulb, fill it with a variety of the pom poms until it's full. Replace the top. Use the red oil based marker to draw a heart on the ornament, allow it to dry. Make as many as the kids want to hang on your own tree and to give as gifts.

Frosty the Snowman Mix

This season, it is time to cuddle up and watch Christmas shows and movies. Every child loves the classic Frosty the Snowman, so why not make a snack to eat as you watch it? Don't have kids, sit down and watch the classic and make the mix for yourself! What you need: 1 bag of Reese's mini 1 bag of chocolate chips 1 bag of pretzel sticks 1 bag of mini marshmallows 1 bag of wilton candy eyeballs Mix everything together and enjoy, add a side of hot chocolate.
