We love our Geko’s
We now have 2 crested geckos and a gargoyle gecko.
Celeste absolutely loves all the critters
that we have, as you can see here. Crested Geckos
are one of the best pet lizards on the planet!
Easy to care for, inexpensive, and docile, they also
make great first reptile pets.
Some interesting facts on crested geckos:
Nocturnal
Arboreal
Great first pet gecko
Easy to breed
Interesting colors and patterns
Why are they called crested geckos?
Correlophus ciliatus. Commonly known as the Crested Gecko
for the flimsy crests along the sides of their heads, or
Eyelash Gecko for the projections on its head and above its eyes.
Recommended Terrarium Size: A 12x12x18 terrarium
is suitable for 1 baby or juvenile, but there's nothing wrong with providing extra space! An 18x18x24 will comfortably house 2 adults.
Be careful when cohabbing crested geckos, especially
of the opposite sex. It is also best to
use a bioactive substrate, I use isopods in mine.
Temperature (°F): Keep Crested Geckos at 72-78.
They cannot tolerate temperatures at or above 85°. Do not let your crested geckos get excessively warm, as high temps can quickly be lethal.
A digital thermometer is recommended to monitor the temperature of your enclosure.
Humidity: Crested geckos like it humid. Provide a water bowl and mist frequently enough to maintain humidity at about 60-70%. Substrate can be allowed to just dry out between mistings, but it should not be bone dry or soaking wet.
Feeding: Crested Geckos are omnivores.
They thrive on a staple diet of fruit mixes
(such as Pangea and Repashy) mine prefer the Pangea.
I mix 2 different kinds together to get the best nutrients in them.
They get the Rapashy once a week which is still good for
them however they have more fruits and get use to the sweet taste.
I have enjoyed taking care of mine, her name is Rowena.
She loves her habitat and she also likes to pee and poo
on you when you get her out.
