Costa Rican zebra Olaf

Our Costa Rican Spider name Olaf has been a hoot, if a tarantula has a personality he definitely has one. He likes to play with a ping pong ball, he moves his water dish and buries it a lot and his favorite thing is doing the hokey pokey. Want to know more about these beautiful tarantula’s? The Costa Rican zebra tarantula (Aphonopelma seemanni) is a species of tarantula that lives in tropical rainforests and dry forests in Central America. It's also known as the striped-knee tarantula.  These tarantulas are usually black with white stripes near the leg joints. They typically reach a maximum size of around 3.5 to 5 inches. Females are heavier-bodied than males with bigger abdomens.  Costa Rican zebra tarantulas are generally considered docile and relatively friendly compared to some other tarantula species. They're more inclined to dart back into their burrow as opposed to strike and attack what they may consider a potential threat.  To care for a pet Costa Rican zebra tar...

Joke of the Day 10/22/23

Since we have been posting animals (reptiles, amphibians and arachnids). I thought it would be cute and corny to post a spider joke, ready? Maybe you will get a little laugh. What do you call it when a shark, a crocodile, and a giant spider walk into a bar? ~Another typical day in Australia!

Bananas in Pyjamas

So I told you yesterday that we are going to be focusing on some of my favorite chefs. Did you know that Gordon Ramsay's daughter Tilly has the same skills in the kitchen as her father. I thought this would be a fun treat for the kiddos. I think I might like this recipe myself and I know my granddaughter would. Bananas in Pyjamas.... What you'll need: 6 bananas 6T crunchy peanut butter 1/2c chocolate chips 1/3c mini marshmallows Create: Heat your oven to 375 or you can light the grill. Using a small knife, cut out a strip of the banana peel all along the top of one side, so you have a window into each one, then cut a slit in the banana inside. Spread a tablespoon of peanut butter inside each banana then cram as many chocolate chips and mini marshmallows on top of the peanut butter inside the banana as you can. Wrap each whole banana tightly in foil individually and oven cook or barbecue for 10 minutes until the chocolate and marshmallows have melted and become gooey. Open one ...

DIY Lego Picture Frame

These are great ideas for kids' rooms or to display your child's picture around the house. T here are several different ways you can do it. The 2 easiest ways are as follows: Make four pillars of 1x2 bricks that are as tall as your photo. Lay down a base of 2x4 or 2x2 bricks that are as wide as your frame needs to be. Build a roll along the outside of the picture to hold it in. Hot glue LEGO bricks around the frame. Place a photo in the frame. Attach a few LEGO guys to the frame. Tape the image and backing to the back of the Lego frame. Make a small loop with ribbon, and tape it to the backing. The second way is: Taking the back off the frame and removing the glass. Painting the frame with acrylic paint. Using a ruler and pencil to mark where the LEGO plates will go.
