When Nobody is Watching....Dance!

We all know about Zumba, which I don't know about you but I just can't do the whole Zumba thing. I do however enjoy the songs, I enjoy to dance and I can keep a rhythm. I did ballet when I was younger and I have always wanted to get into some hip hop classes (need to lose a bit of weight first) BUT there is no reason you can't shut your doors, pull your curtains close and get down at home!

You can burn some calories if you are dancing, not slow dancing but getting down with your bad self! Now you are not going to loose al the weight you are wanting too by dancing every day, you can however add it to your workout routine, or if you can't get to the gym that day get your groove on!

It is important just like with any workout to watch your caloric intake. You don't want to add too many calories to your diet because you can wind up maintaining your weight or gaining weight! Make sure you keep your intake to an appropriate amount!
Manage your dance time; to lose weight by dancing you should strive for at least 20 minutes of dance time 4-5 times a week with an accelerated heart rate and do a cool down of about 5 minutes.
Dance Moves, now those are important. The best dance moves include the old standby move of a step with one foot and then bringing the other foot next to the first one and then going the opposite way! Get your arm movements in to where they are at least up to the shoulders. Mix in bending, twisting, lifting. Just make sure you are "getting down with your bad self" that way your heart is truly pumping!
Music selection is going to play a very important part into your dance workout! You are not going to be dancing heavily to a slow song, you need some fast upbeat songs. Find a free metronome so you can determine music speeds, you want music that is around 88-100 beats, even a bit more when you are getting your leg lifts in. Make sure you pick music that makes you happy and want to dance!

Apple Ginger Fizz for Fall

The kids deserve a special drink for the fall besides apple cider. This is a great fall mocktail with a beautiful flavor combination. Not just for the kiddos. This makes 1 drink What  you'll need: 3 oz still apple cider 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice 6 mint leaves 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar Pinch powdered cinnamon 3 oz ginger ale Create: Place apple cider, lime juice, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar and a few ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. If you don't have a shaker, anything with a tight lid will work, such as a mason jar or drink bottle. Clap the mint together in your hands to release the scent, and add to the shaker. Shake for about 20-30 seconds until ingredients are combined. Pour into an ice filled glass and top with ginger ale. Stir gently, garnish with mint, dried citrus or a cinnamon stick, and serve.
