Health & Benefits of Valerian Root

Valerian is a flowering perennial that has been used medicinally
since the time of ancient Greeks.
There are many benefits to Valerian Root,
I take it myself a nurse friend turned me
onto it for sleep and it does.

According to the Mayo Clinic valerian root is
great for the treatment of sleep disorders.
It helps you fall asleep faster and enhances the quality of sleep.

Valerian root is highly used in Europe as an effective
remedy for anxiety and restlessness.
It contains gamma aminobutyric acid.
This is a neurotransmitter that can help regulate
the central nervous system and relieve symptoms of anxiety.

It can help with migraines, there haven't been enough
studies done to give data but some healthcare
professionals will have you give valerian root a try
before they put you on a prescription.

ADHD... yes it can help calm hyperactivity!
This is great for kids when they are young and parents
don't want to put their children on a prescription yet.
It is safe for kids but talk to their PCP to find out
what dosage is right for kids.

Enhanced cognitive performance; studies show that
people taking valerian root can enhance their focus and
improve their memory. This is great for people getting
older, even at my age when you have the brain farts!

Suffer from menstrual pain? Studies have shown
women who take valerian root may have less cramps or
the pain from the cramps are less severe.
Start taking it a few days before your period and
then the whole time you are on your period.

Acid reflux or more digestive issues try taking valerian root
every day you might just be able to put that
prescription down and be all natural!

Arthritis relief, I have found that if I take a valerian root
during the day it does help some of my joints.
Studies have shown it doesn't work over night you
have to do it for a few weeks to see if it works for you.
Again I take mine at night but I will take one in the morning
to aid with some of the topics we have gone over.

Depression relief, studies have shown if taken over a
long period of time valerian root does help with depression.
Studies have shown you get what they call a "mental rest".
If you aren't ready yet to get on an antidepressant
give this a try for a month and see what happens.

Valerian root lastly helps with hypertension.
They have linked this to the studies of help with
anxiety and depression. Normally when you are
having issues with your mental mood your
blood pressure rises. I can't say if it helps aid in
my high blood pressure or not because I am on a
prescription, if I don't take my prescription my
blood pressure gets extremely high, so this one
I am not too sure of.

You can find Valerian Root at just about any pharmacy.
You are actually able to take a high dosage of
it even at one time. Mine is 1,250mg, I take 1 in
the morning and 4 at night. It is definitely worth
checking out if you have any of these issues.

DIY Cheesecloth Ghosts

I absolutely love these! I love decorating for Halloween, I have to say it is my favorite holiday. I don't think you can have enough decorations up! So when I found this DIY project I just had to share!   DIY Cheesecloth Ghosts     You can find styrofoam mannequin heads at wig shots. They normally can stand on their necks but for this project you need to suspend them to let the cloth flow freely. Materials: Cheesecloth Styrofoam mannequin heads Sponge brush Watered-down glue or fabric stiffener Screw eyes Monofilament Removable adhesive hooks (like command brand or painters tape).     Steps: Apply a layer of cheesecloth to the head, then generously brush over head and face with glue. Use hands to smooth the cloth into the facial features. Don't brush down the neck, stop at chin level so the fabric is loose below that. Repeat until you have 4 layers each being 7 feet long of cheesecloth...
