Homemade Sage & Lavender Deodorant

I have posted a few homemade deodorant recipes

in the past, they are all different and are all popular

because some of the ingredients in store bought deodorant is scary!

This isn't one of the easiest ones, but it was well

worth blogging about; I do want to note it takes 21

days to infuse. So I can't use it right away.

Also when you first start using DIY deodorant you

will have to apply a few times a day until your body gets

used to the natural ingredients. This recipe yields 8oz.

Equipment:

small saucepan

half pint mason jar

fine mesh sieve

small glass measuring cup

half circle mold

empty deodorant containers on eBay or Amazon

Infused herbal oil:

1/3c sage leaves

1/3c dried lavender

1/4c coconut oil

2/3c sweet almond oil

Homemade deodorant:

1/2c infused herbal oil

2oz beeswax

1oz raw shea butter

20-30 drops essential oil, 10 drops of lavender,

10 drops sweet orange, 5 drops of sage

2T arrowroot powder

2tsp baking soda (if you can't get arrowroot)

Infuse the oil:

Place the herbs in a half pint mason jar, melt the

coconut oil over low heat.

Add the coconut oil to the jar of herbs and then fill

the jar the rest of the way with the sweet almond oil.

Cover the jar and put in a cool dark place

to infuse for 2-6 weeks.

Strain out the herbal material with a fine mesh

sieve when ready to use.

Put the deodorant together:

Put the infused oil and beeswax into the top container

of a double boiler and stir as the beeswax melts.

Once the beeswax has completely melted and the shea

butter and stir until it dissolves.

Remove the mixture from the double boiler and stir

in the essential oils, then stir in the arrowroot powder

or baking soda. Keep stirring for a minute or two until

thoroughly combined. The mixture will begin to thicken slightly.

Pour the mixture into your empty deodorant containers

of half circle molds. Let the deodorant set up for a

few hours before using.

DIY Cheesecloth Ghosts

I absolutely love these! I love decorating for Halloween, I have to say it is my favorite holiday. I don't think you can have enough decorations up! So when I found this DIY project I just had to share!   DIY Cheesecloth Ghosts     You can find styrofoam mannequin heads at wig shots. They normally can stand on their necks but for this project you need to suspend them to let the cloth flow freely. Materials: Cheesecloth Styrofoam mannequin heads Sponge brush Watered-down glue or fabric stiffener Screw eyes Monofilament Removable adhesive hooks (like command brand or painters tape).     Steps: Apply a layer of cheesecloth to the head, then generously brush over head and face with glue. Use hands to smooth the cloth into the facial features. Don't brush down the neck, stop at chin level so the fabric is loose below that. Repeat until you have 4 layers each being 7 feet long of cheesecloth...
