Welcome Halloween, Week 5 BeetleJuice

Beetlejuice is another favorite of mine and I know

many love this movie. You could do multiples of these

and place them around your house.

DIY Beetlejuice Potted Sand Worm

What you will need:

A plastic pot (doesn't need to be large)

Hot glue gun & sticks

Fake moss

At least 3 squares of white sculpey polymer clay,

you need one for each tentacle. If you are doing more

accounting for each pot you are doing.

White paint

Black paint

Painting accessories: brush, palettle, cup of water and a surface protector

Piece of cardboard bigger than the opening of you pot

Something to cut with (scissors or an x-acto blade)

Step one:

Sculpt each block of clay into a tentacle, remember you need

3 for each pot. If you have never used this type of clay

it may be a little rough to work with at first, keep playing with it.

Roll the clay between your hands and stretch it out and make

it look like a snake. Keep working till you get it as close

to the picture shown.

When you are done making them you want to bake them at

275 degrees for 15 minutes for every 1/4" thickness.

The directions I got this post from said she baked hers

for about an hour and 15 minutes.

Step two:

While you are waiting for your clay to bake you can work on the pot.

Place your cardboard piece on a flat surface and flip your

pot upside down on top of it. Trace the diameter of the

opening of the pot on the cardboard with a pencil, then

using that traced circle as your reference cut at least 1"

into the center of that circle so that the circle you are

cutting out is smaller than the diameter of your pot.

You will hot glue the edges of the cardboard circle and

place it down into the opening of the pot to make a base.

Step three:

Once your clay has baked and cooled down, coat the

tentacles with a bright white paint. You may need a few coats.

As soon as the white is dry you can begin painting bands

around the tentacles with black paint.

Step four:

Now that your tentacles are dried you can hot glue them in

whatever position you want to the cardboard base in your pot.

Start filling the vase with fake moss, gluing it down with

your hot glue gun. You want some of the moss covering

the base of the tentacles enough to give the illusion that

they are coming out of the moss.

BeetleJuice MilkShake

What you will need to make the glasses:

Repurposed Frappuccino Bottles

Glass chalkboard paint black and white (DecoArt)

is dishwasher safe

Painters Tape

Place 3 strips of painters tape on the glass bottle.

Applying the first one at the bottom, the second in the

middle and the third towards the top. The sections with

no tape you will use the black chalkboard paint.

Apply the paint twice.

Once they're done allow them to dry for 4 days and then

bake according to the instructions on the paint to make

them dishwasher safe.

How to make the milkshake:

1 quart vanilla ice cream, softened

1 packet grape Kool-aid

1/4 - 1/2c milk

edible glitter or sprinkles

whipped cream

Place the ice cream in your blender or mixer, mix a

little and then add the packet of kool-aid and keep mixing

until incorporated. Gradually add the milk until you

reach the desired consistency. Pour and enjoy!

Now sit back and enjoy watching BeetleJuice

DIY Tangled Inspired Paper Lanterns

I am trying to pick some of the Disney movies a lot of kids love, for the week ahead. I love Tangled, I think the way they did it was great! I was always a huge Beauty & the Beast fan and while that will forever be my all time favorite the newer Disney movies are just awesome with the animation and the songs. I have a whole Disney playlist on my phone for Celeste and you guessed it Tangled is on there, that is one of her favorites as well. I found this DIY and knew I had to blog it that way when she is older we can make them together. Here's what you'll need: construction paper toilet paper rolls scissors glue crayons Create: First, put construction paper around the toilet paper roll. Measure the construction paper and cut it to fit to size. It doesn't have to be perfect. On some of the rolls you can decide to add extra decorations. Like the Rapunzel sun and swirls before you glue it on to the toilet paper roll. Remember this ...
