So my post yesterday talked about seasonal depression.
I mentioned using light box therapy to help. When I first
talked to my Dr years ago and she suggested one they were
crazy expensive. Now you can get one for around $30.
Below are some tips to get the most out of light box therapy.
First you want to make sure that the light box is 10,000 lux or more.
Your light box should provide the full spectrum of bright
white light but block ultraviolet rays.
You want to position the light box at eye level or higher. It should
mimic being outside in sunlight. Place the light box about
2 feet away from your eyes.
Keep the light box at an angle to the left or the right at
about 2:00 or 10:00. Use it in the morning for 20-30
minutes and you can gradually go up to 60 minutes. You can
multi-task while doing this, eat breakfast, drink your coffee,
check Facebook etc.
Consistency is very important if you want good results, start
using one in early fall till early spring. Journal while doing this
each day to see if it is helping your mood or not.
