Halloween Week 4, Monster Squad

How many of you remember this movie? My hubs had never

heard of it, when the older kids were in their teens

I found the DVD on eBay, this was one of my favorite monster

movies growing up. I couldn’t find exact things to do for

this movie but there is a mummy in it, so that is

going to be the theme.

Plastic Trick of Treat Mummy Pumpkin

Instead of just using the plastic pumpkin you buy at Walmart

dress it up this year, with this easy DIY mummy pumpkin.

Materials:

plastic trick or treat pumpkin

old sheet/pillowcase/canvas bag

felt

pen

chalk

scissors

hot glue gun and sticks

Create:

First start by making the eyes, use white and black felt,

trace two round objects with a pen and chalk and cut them out.

Pen on the white, chalk on the black. Make sure you cut

the black smaller than the white.

Glue the eyes together and set them outside, you want the

black on the inside of the white as it's pupils.

Using an old sheet, pillowcase or canvas bag cut stirps,

different lengths because you want them to overlap and

cover the whole pumpkin. Start by gluing one strip at a

time and placing them as it would look like you just wrapped a mummy.

Once you cover the pumpkin, glue on the felt eyes.
Glue a final piece of cloth strip just a hair over the top of the eyes.

Mummy Rice Krispy Treats

What kid doesn't like rice krispy treats and we are

sticking with the mummy theme, these are so cute!

This recipe makes 8 bars.

Ingredients:

8 rice krispy treat bars

1lb vanilla white melting chocolate

16 edible candy eyes

Create:

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Melt your chocolate in the microwave or stovetop.

Dip each treat in the melted chocolate, shake off

any excess and place on your sheet.

After the chocolate sets, trim the extra chocolate off

the edges with a knife. Reheat chocolate and transfer

to a zippered bag or piping bag.

Snip the corner of the bag very small, add two dots of the

chocolate to each treat for the edible eyes. Then drizzle the

chocolate across your treats to resemble mummy wrapping.

Now sit back and enjoy and oldie but a goody!

Apple Ginger Fizz for Fall

The kids deserve a special drink for the fall besides apple cider. This is a great fall mocktail with a beautiful flavor combination. Not just for the kiddos. This makes 1 drink What  you'll need: 3 oz still apple cider 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice 6 mint leaves 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar Pinch powdered cinnamon 3 oz ginger ale Create: Place apple cider, lime juice, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar and a few ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. If you don't have a shaker, anything with a tight lid will work, such as a mason jar or drink bottle. Clap the mint together in your hands to release the scent, and add to the shaker. Shake for about 20-30 seconds until ingredients are combined. Pour into an ice filled glass and top with ginger ale. Stir gently, garnish with mint, dried citrus or a cinnamon stick, and serve.
