Quote of the Day September 30, 2020

If you dream a thing more than once, it's sure to come true.

The Exercise Debate

30 minutes or longer; how long should you workout? Different websites and Dr.s say different things. Let me start by saying if you only have 30 minutes then by all means do your 30 minutes it's better nothing at all. If you are trying to maintain weight 30 minutes a day is plenty. Generally a 30 minute workout is just cardio. If you want to add building muscles and strength, definition and cardio you definitely need more than 30 minutes. Most of the time you strength train for 30 minutes by the time you are done doing all your sets. Then you move onto cardio. Here are a few more things to keep in mind, your body doesn't start burning calories until you have reached your peak heart rate. Mine for my age and weight is in the high 140's.  So if I lift weights or do other activities for 30 minutes before cardio I have already started to raise my heart rate, that means 5-10 minutes into cardio I am already at my target heart rate. I used to do an hour on the elliptical. Since

Strawberry Cheesecake Protein Shake

I was sold when I saw cheesecake in the recipe! Normally a protein shake recipe yields 1 this one actually makes 2 smoothies. What you need: 1.5c whole frozen strawberries 1/2c frozen sliced banana 1/4c vanilla protein powder 1/3c nonfat greek yogurt 1c unsweetened almond milk 2 crushed graham crackers for topping Place all ingredients except graham crackers in your nutri bullet or blender. Top with the crushed graham crackers and enjoy!

DIY Gel Ice Pack

I am sure everyone has seen these made, but have you ever made one? They actually work pretty good. What you need: 2 gallon plastic freezer bags 2c water 1c rubbing alcohol 70% Fill the plastic freezer bag with the alcohol and water. Try to get as much air out of the freezer bag before sealing it shut. Place the bag filled with the liquid into the second freezer bag just as a barrier. Leave the bag in the freezer for at least an hour before you go to use it. When you store it in the freezer try to keep it flat.
