Oogie Boogie Cupcakes

I love that I added the kids corner, there are so many
fun things out there for kids whether it's DIY or food.
Halloween is around the corner so I thought I would
share this recipe, I made it years ago for CJ's
birthday party. How many you make depends on how
many boxes of cake mix you buy.

Ingredients:
box of chocolate cake mix
plastic decorating bag for piping
black licorice
cupcake frosting tinted "monster" green
kitchen scissors
toothpicks
cupcake holders
marshmallows
gummy worms optional

Create:
Make your cupcakes according to box directions
and then let cool completely.

Frost the cupcakes with a thin layer of icing.

Place a half marshmallow on the center of each frosted cupcake.

Cut off the tip of the plastic decorating bag so that
the opening is about 3/4" wide. Then fill the bag with
green frosting, don't fill the bag to full.

Working with one cupcake at a time, pipe frosting around
the base of the marshmallow and then up and over it;
moving toward the center and ending with a large peak.

Smooth the surface of the frosting with a butter knife,
periodically dipping the tip of the knife in water so icing
will be easier to spread. Don't worry about making it perfectly
smooth it will look even more like Oogie Boogie
with a few lumps and wrinkles.

Snip a pair of narrow licorice eyes and a wide licorice
mouth for each cupcake. use the tip of a toothpick to
gently press the candy pieces into the frosting face,
angling the eyes a bit to resemble Oogie Boogie.

If making these for a party, place cupcakes on a
tray with gummy worms placed out on the tray to
resemble the worms he had on him.

Apple Ginger Fizz for Fall

The kids deserve a special drink for the fall besides apple cider. This is a great fall mocktail with a beautiful flavor combination. Not just for the kiddos. This makes 1 drink What  you'll need: 3 oz still apple cider 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice 6 mint leaves 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar Pinch powdered cinnamon 3 oz ginger ale Create: Place apple cider, lime juice, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar and a few ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. If you don't have a shaker, anything with a tight lid will work, such as a mason jar or drink bottle. Clap the mint together in your hands to release the scent, and add to the shaker. Shake for about 20-30 seconds until ingredients are combined. Pour into an ice filled glass and top with ginger ale. Stir gently, garnish with mint, dried citrus or a cinnamon stick, and serve.
