Since I am doing a week of protein smoothies
I figured I would touch base on more information
about protein and why it is so important for your body.
Let me first start by saying you don't have to drink protein shake,
there are other ways of getting protein in, a shake is
just a quick way to get a high dose.
The power of protein; protein is an important component
of every cell in the body. Hair and nails are mostly made of protein.
Your body uses protein to build and repair tissues.
You also use protein to make enzymes, hormones and
other body chemicals. Protein is an important building block
of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin and blood.
Women not working out should take in between
50-60 grams of protein. Women working out should
take in between 60-100 grams a day.
It's not as hard as you may think it is. Most protein powder
has at least 20g, if you are working out and you do
2 shakes that is already 40g of protein.
Now let's say you have chicken for dinner 4oz chicken breast
that has 38g so you are now up to 78g.
That is not including anything else you may eat during
the day that has protein in it.
