Welcome Halloween, Week 1 Nightmare Before Christmas.

For the next 5 Friday's on the Más page you will find
fun filled Halloween posts! It will include 1 DIY, 1 Recipe
and 1 Halloween movie that you should watch.

Ready, lets have some fun! Oh and did I mention I love Jack!?!?

Jack Skellington Halloween String Garland.....

What you'll need:
white cotton string
black felt
water balloons
liquid fabric starch
regular paper or cardstock
scissors

Have fun creating:
Blow up you water balloons so they are about 4" wide
and tie off the ends.

Cut the white cotton string into long lengths about 5'
long. You can always cut more.

Using the black felt created his eyes, nose and mouth.
You will need all facial features for each
string ball you want to make.

Pour liquid starch into a bowl. Place your balloon into the bowl.
Dip the ends of your 5' white string into the bowl and
wrap the string around your balloon, soaking the
string in the starch before you wrap. Add more lengths
of white string. Once the balloon resembles a very
messy spider web, hang the balloon up to dry.
Place paper towel or craft paper under the balloons as they will drip.

Cut a piece of string about 1' long and tie one
end to the end of the balloon. You will use this string
to hang your balloon so it can dry.

Repeat this process for each ball you wish to
create for your garland.

Once all the string balls are dry, pop the balloons and
pull them out through a gap in the string. Glue on his eyes,
mouth and nose to each string ball.
Tie them to a long ribbon, yarn or string garland and
evenly space them out. Cut off extra string after
you have tied them into place.

I actually made these one year for my son's birthday.
His birthday is in October so we had a Halloween
themed birthday. These are easy to make and you
can have the kids help you.

Ingredients:
Box of chocolate cake mix
2 toothpicks
white buttercream frosting (or any white frosting you like)
tube of black decorator's icing
black cupcake liners

Create:
Cook cupcakes according to package directions
and then let cool completely.

Frost your cupcakes, for each cupcake use the tip of a
toothpick to lightly etch the outline of two large Jack eyes.

Slowly pipe black decorator's icing onto the etched lines
and then fill in the inner circles. Use another toothpick
to spread and smooth icing.

Pipe on two short lines for his nose. Next pipe a long
line across the bottom of the cupcake for the mouth.
For the finishing spooky touch, randomly top the mouth
with a bunch of short icing barbs.

Now what movie to watch.... of course, The Nightmare Before Christmas

Have a fun filled family day😀

Fall Simmering Potpourri

I love the smell of fall, I even like fall itself.  I just don't like what follows... winter!  However I love walking in my home and smelling  the fall scents that are so warm and inviting. Making this simmering potpourri is extremely easy! What you'll need: Tangerine or orange peels Cloves Cinnamon sticks or ground cinnamon Vanilla extract Pumpkin pie spice Water Small crockpot, saucepan or tea kettle You can choose how much you want to put in  of what, there really is no magic amount. I normally put  in more of my favorite scents. If using a tea kettle  or a sauce pan keep in mind you will have to keep  adding water to it. If you use a crockpot you  will not have to keep adding water and you can keep  it on even when you're asleep. Some other ideas that you can add are: Apple juice (instead of water) Cranberries Nutmeg Anise (one of my favorites) Dried fruit Coffee beans Have you ever made a simmering potpourri pot?  What do you normal...
