The Exercise Debate

30 minutes or longer; how long should you workout?

Different websites and Dr.s say different things.

Let me start by saying if you only have 30 minutes

then by all means do your 30 minutes it's better

nothing at all. If you are trying to maintain weight

30 minutes a day is plenty. Generally a 30 minute

workout is just cardio.

If you want to add building muscles and strength,

definition and cardio you definitely need more than 30 minutes.

Most of the time you strength train for 30 minutes by the

time you are done doing all your sets. Then you move onto cardio.

Here are a few more things to keep in mind, your body doesn't

start burning calories until you have reached your peak heart rate.

Mine for my age and weight is in the high 140's.

So if I lift weights or do other activities for 30 minutes

before cardio I have already started to raise my heart rate,

that means 5-10 minutes into cardio I am already at

my target heart rate. I used to do an hour on the elliptical.

Since I have been in and out of the gym I am still

struggling to get a full half hour in on the arc trainer.

My goal is 30 minute strength building, 45 minute cardio

(if I do 45 minutes I am actually burning calories for 30 minutes).

This is just at the gym.

I also want to start doing workout videos in the morning,

the gym in the afternoon and a walk in the evening weather permitting.

The more exercise you do, the more weight you will lose.

So with all that being said you have to decide what's right

for you, your body and the time you have.

DIY Cheesecloth Ghosts

I absolutely love these! I love decorating for Halloween, I have to say it is my favorite holiday. I don't think you can have enough decorations up! So when I found this DIY project I just had to share!   DIY Cheesecloth Ghosts     You can find styrofoam mannequin heads at wig shots. They normally can stand on their necks but for this project you need to suspend them to let the cloth flow freely. Materials: Cheesecloth Styrofoam mannequin heads Sponge brush Watered-down glue or fabric stiffener Screw eyes Monofilament Removable adhesive hooks (like command brand or painters tape).     Steps: Apply a layer of cheesecloth to the head, then generously brush over head and face with glue. Use hands to smooth the cloth into the facial features. Don't brush down the neck, stop at chin level so the fabric is loose below that. Repeat until you have 4 layers each being 7 feet long of cheesecloth...
