DIY Dandelion Salve

Dandelion salve works great on dry skin and chapped lips. It's another alternative other than using sugar scrubs or something store bought.

What you'll need:
Pint Mason Jar
Fine Mesh Sieve
Cheesecloth
Small Saucepan
Small Glass Measuring Cup
2oz Tins
1c Dried Dandelion Flowers
1 1/2c Sweet Almond Oil
1oz Beeswax
1oz Refined Shea Butter
12-24 drops of Lavender or Sweet Orange Essential Oils

How to make:
First you want to dry your dandelions, leave them they on a paper towel for a day. Then you are ready to make your dandelion infused oil;

Put the wilted dandelion flowers into a pint sized jar and cover them with the sweet almond oil. Let your dandelion oil sit in a dark place for a week or two but not much longer than that because it could spoil.

Strain out the flowers using a fine mesh sieve and a cheesecloth so that you can really squeeze all of the dandelion goodness out.

Now onto the salve;
Put the dandelion oil and beeswax into the small bowl or Pyrex measuring cup (microwave safe), heat 40 seconds and stir, keep doing intervals and stirring until the beeswax is completely dissolved into the oil.

Add the Shea butter and stir until it completely dissolves, then stir in your essential oil of choice.

Carefully pour the mixture into your small tins and let it sit until the salve sets up completely.

This recipe will make 6 2oz tins, you can find these tins on Amazon or eBay.

Special note; A lot of these DIY recipes you can do as gifts too, so make some for yourself and then hold onto some for gifts!

Apple Ginger Fizz for Fall

  The kids deserve a special drink for the fall besides apple cider. This is a great fall mocktail with a beautiful flavor combination. Not just for the kiddos. This makes 1 drink What  you'll need: 3 oz still apple cider 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice 6 mint leaves 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar Pinch powdered cinnamon 3 oz ginger ale Create: Place apple cider, lime juice, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar and a few ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. If you don't have a shaker, anything with a tight lid will work, such as a mason jar or drink bottle. Clap the mint together in your hands to release the scent, and add to the shaker. Shake for about 20-30 seconds until ingredients are combined. Pour into an ice filled glass and top with ginger ale. Stir gently, garnish with mint, dried citrus or a cinnamon stick, and serve.
