8 Benefits and Uses of Witch Hazel

Witch hazel is a plant with powerful medicinal properties that can be used in a variety of ways. Below I have listed 8 different benefits.

It can reduce inflammation. Rub some on the part of your body that is inflamed, it will help soothe your skin.

Reduces skin irritation. It can be beneficial in treating irritated of broken skin. Witch hazel has even been shown to suppress erythema; a reddening of the skin caused by injury or irritation. It also helps irritated facial skin.

Helps treat hemorrhoids (this one I had no clue)! What you want to do for this is add some witch hazel to a clean cloth or a cotton ball and apply directly to the affected area to soothe the skin.

Fights Acne, witch hazel has powerful anti-f]inflammatory properties, that it can be useful to treating acne.
Clean your face the way you normally do and then apply some directly to your face. It will shrink your pores and soothe your skin.

Alleviates scalp sensitivity; scalp sensitivity can be caused by a number of factors, ranging from cosmetic hair treatments to conditions such as psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis.

Apply a bit of witch hazel to your scalp before washing your hair, it could help treat the sensitivity and provide relief from symptoms such as itching and tenderness. It can help sensitivity from eczema on your scalp as well.

Soothes sore throat, this one you really wanna follow the directions because you are putting it in your mouth.
Boil 1tsp of witch hazel in 1c of water for about 10 minutes and then gargle. It should help reduce swelling, decrease pain and dry excess mucus caused by your sore throat.

Protects against skin damage....this one they are still up in the air on, one research study says yes another one says no... so I guess you can try it and see if it works.

Wards of infection; it is said that it can help fight certain types of viral infections (don't go there, we don't know enough about the rona yet) lol...you can apply it to cold sores, you can gurgle like we talked about above. There are tests that show it can help fight of influenza A as well, but I could not find how to use it with the flu.

Hope this helps especially in times where we can't find the things we are use to buying for some of these issues.
