Working Out, What I Think

There are so many different opinions to how you should workout! Some say start this way, some say start that way. I am going to talk about how I workout and why I do it this way.

Lets first talk about your heart rate, you want your heart rate to go up when you are working out, you want to hit your “target heart rate” which depends on your age and weight. My target heart rate is between 140-160. You DO NOT really burn any calories until you have gotten in your target heart rate range!!!

So with that being said I always start off with weight training, or a circuit or (I belong to Planet Fitness) the 30 minute workout area. You are “working out” which gets your blood pumping and your heart rate up. By the time you are done with that your heart rate should be close to your target range.

Once your done, do your cardio, by the time you start cardio you will start burning calories.

That is your goal of working out, burning calories. So lets say you start with cardio and you only do 30 minutes of cardio when you workout. Your first 15-20 minutes are wasted because you were working up to your target heart rate. When you have started with something else and already have your heart rate up, you spend less time working on getting to the point that you are starting to burn calories and you are burning right away!

Make sense? Again I am not telling you this is the way you have to workout, I am just suggesting you to try it and see if maybe this helps!
